A quartet of persons lost their lives in Kenya's capital when armed personnel shot and employed chemical irritants to scatter massive crowds at a venue where opposition leader Raila Odinga's remains was on public view.

Aviation Hub Incident and Government Building Standoff

Previously that day, countless of mourners momentarily entered Nairobi's international airport, interrupting a official event where President William Ruto and other officials were receiving Odinga's remains with military honors.

This incident led to a brief stoppage of airport operations.

Groups also flooded surrounding thoroughfares and attempted to breach the government complex, where the government had first arranged the open visitation.

National Heritage and Community Devotion

Though mainly known as an government critic, Odinga became senior minister in 2008 and also formed a political pact with Ruto last year in a career defined by evolving coalitions.

He generated strong loyalty among followers, notably in his ethnic group based in the nation's western region, many of whom maintain he was prevented from obtaining the nation's leadership by vote manipulation.

Many of Odinga's mourners, who were not living in 1991 when Kenya became a multi-faction governance, offered homage to Odinga's work as an advocate.
