Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
