It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
