Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
